WORLD NEWS OMG WAR EVERYWHERE! GET YOUR VACCINE! ARE YOU AS THIN AND FIT AS YOU COULD BE? EVERYONE IS WRONG! BIRD FLU IS COMING! EVERYTHING IS BAD! NATURE IS TERRIFYING! LOOK OUT FOR SHARKS AND KILLER BEES! HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT BEYONCE IS WEARING? OIL IS KING!

I’d really like to make a nice batch of warm cookies for anyone who actually watches this stuff and takes it at face value.

If we didn’t grow up thinking these talking heads told the truth and took these people off their pedestal, I think we’d see them for what they are:

A bunch of strange, sad, hungry people telling only half the story. The subjects switch too fast and no one speaks in full ideas. They paint only half the picture and fill in the rest with frightening and disorienting images and then bank on our prejudice and fear to piece together the appropriate stereotypes.

I see these anchors like I do most politicians: people who have had to compromise too many times to get into their position of power and will bury any truth or tell any lie they think will keep them there.

They are supposed to inform the people of the real issues at hand; that’s the point of reporting the news. But overtime they are bought and sold and scattered and hungry and ultimately unfit to speak on behalf of what is actually stirring in this beautiful and brilliant world of ours.

Things are not moving towards war, they are moving towards peace. People are not out to get each other, they are desperate for acceptance. They need love, they need support, and they need kindness.

Out there in the world there are people in suits: they tell lies back and forth to each other and sadly their ambitions for power and profit can send kids off to war and bulldoze rain forests and cover pretty things in chemicals. But outside all that nonsense and greed and fear there is a world full of people who, given the chance, would put their lives on the line for what’s right, and, if given the right information, would do whatever it takes to ensure a brighter world for future generations,

I believe in this country. I believe in this world. I believe in our people.

Only lies can disrupt this natural awakening toward enlightenment.

Pay no mind to the lies.
